Freedom Days 1 to 4 (just more rambling)

Ok so it's day four of my freedom from the world of work. It's going well so far. I have had fun getting into biking and running again. It's ironic that I have gotten up earlier in the last couple of days than I ever have for work, 5 and 6 o'clock. I think it's the return of the day night cycle.

Oddly enough several of my no good buddies have the summer off or mostly off. So I'm not the only one around... strange, but fun.

I can already feel the stress ebbing from my bones. I know that had I just taken a vacation it wouldn't have felt this relaxing. The threat of work hanging over my head would have meant that I wouldn't have been able to do anything but think about it.

One thing that I definitely miss is seeing certain people on a daily basis. Oh well, I'll just have to make an effort to keep in touch. I'm not very good at that, but there is no better time than the present to learn.

OK so days one through four so far are a success.

Bike Seats Are Not Designed For Comfort

So I took this independence day to do a little self propelled travel. I took a 25 or so mile bike ride. Wow, the 4th was a really nice day. I felt really free.

I wore an mp3 player made sure my tires had enough air and then just went. It was nice to ride by and see the different families having cookouts. It was nice to smell the food too... I know I only just went in a random direction and came back, but I feel tired and I feel like I accomplished something. It just felt good to exhaust myself.

I rode by some nice houses. I rode through the town next door and got to see some farms and some horses. Not many people were out, but I gave a slight wave and a smile to those people that I saw. Some smiled back and a few just nodded. People in this area aren't used to being friendly.

It was a good day...

I think I'm going to by a new seat for this bike... maybe new handle bars too.

"Step 4" Dara's Blog

By the way my sister Dara has started a Blog. I know... another blog... Actually her blog should actually be interesting. It's about her move to Hawaii. I think at some point in the future it will have some pictures on it too which will be cool.

I also like her reason for calling it Step 4. Visit the blog and see why she calls it that. >>Step 4<<<. She already told me that she met a one eyed man and has contemplated living in her office. Anyone who has their red Volvo with heated seats shipped out to Hawaii will definitely come up with some interesting tales.

List Of Things To Do...

This is the first weekend where I feel like I am free from work. I think I'll miss being busy at least a little. I don't think I will be bored though... I've already started to get myself back into shape. I spent a little of this weekend in the sun. I'm really looking forward to making it to a beach this summer. My cousin Eric has been instant messaging me and tell me to stop down the cape. I think I will, now that I will have the time. Also, I wont be mentally spent by the time the weekends roll around. He wants to go fishing. That's something I haven't done in a long time.

So I used the bike my sister left when she went to Hawaii. It's pretty awesome! It's extremely light weight and the gear shifting is so smooth. I didn't range very far, but I'm not in all that good of a shape right now. I can already feel myself getting more tone and between yesterday and today I went like 3 more miles... So progress already... Sooner or later I'll either pick up a few free weights or hit a gym, maybe... Then again maybe I'll start biking down to the beach every other day. I wont build too much muscle that way, but I'll be in amazing shape.

I should start figuring out some travel plans... I don't want to end up around the house all summer. Though that wouldn't be all that bad either. I do have like 2 ceilings that I need to redo before the winter. I could learn how to do some wiring and plumbing. It wouldn't be a bad thing. I might actually need to know it someday.

Maybe I'll do a little bit of all of the above. I'll have to start a list of things to get done and do this summer.
